The Rational FX prepaid Travel Money Card is a prepaid MasterCard card that works just like a debit card allowing you to convert British pounds unto US Dollars or Euros at a great FX rate which is guaranteed to be the best in the market by the Rational FX team.
Loading funds is as easy as topping up a Pay As You Go mobile phone. It can be topped up online at any time on our website, over the phone or by SMS.
The card is useful for business travel, holidays abroad or any other overseas spending. Rational Travel Money Card is easy to use and makes spending money abroad safer and more convenient.
With your Rational FX prepaid card, you can enjoy all the benefits of a Prepaid MasterCard card with no credit check, no interest payments and no surprises. You can use it almost anywhere in the world (wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark) which means at more than 28.5 million locations as well as a million ATM's .
The Good
Rational FX have an excellent reputation in the currency exchange market and the Rational FX prepaid card is out to deliver the same benefits and customer focus in the Prepaid market and in true Rational FX fashion, an excellent FX rate is delivered through the convenience of a prepaid card. This is backed up by excellent customer service and two currency card options in Euro and USD. If used wisely, the Rational FX prepaid card can be cost neutral attracting almost no fee.
The Not so Good
There is no GBP option which means that it is not wise to use your Rational FX currency card in the UK and is best suited for use abroad.

Application Process  
Currently, you can only apply for the Rational FX prepaid card via the Rational FX website and a short and simple application process.
- Apply online - You can apply for the Rational FX prepaid card online using the online application form which takes a few minutes to complete. You have an option to either buy your prepaid travel card in advance and load later or you can buy and load your currency which will be loaded on to your card when it is sent out to you.
Your card should be with you within 7-10 days of your application and it is recommended that you apply for your Rational FX prepaid card well in advance of any planned trips abroad.

*The Rational FX prepaid card is 100% Free but a £9.95 deposit is taken on sign up which is returned onto your card within 48 hours of your first card load.
** There is no transaction fee but an FX fee of 2.75% may be charged if transaction is made in a non USD / EURO card region.

Online Account Management and Self Servicing
You can service your account on the Rational FX prepaid card website or via an interactive voice response facility or via SMS messaging from your mobile phone. You can view your balance, recent transactions and change your personal details. The Online self service functionality provide by Rational FX is about as good as any other in the market.

Using Abroad
The Rational FX prepaid cards is available in two versions - a Rational FX Euro card and a Rational FX USD Card. Being a MasterCard branded product means that you can use either card at over 28.5 million locations worldwide that accept MasterCard.
There is no International POS transaction fee so using your Euro Card where Euro's are accepted or your USD card where US dollars are accepted will attract no extra charge or fees. However, using your card in a region where the currency is different from your card currency will attract a 2.75% foreign exchange fee so it is best to use your card in the right region.
Using you card to withdraw cash at ATM's abroad will incur a €1.50 / $2.00 fee. This is quite competitive and in line with other travel money cards.
