The ClearCash prepaid MasterCard® card and icount is one of the most transparent prepaid card propositions on the market. Available on either a Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go tariff, ClearCash can be used online, in store and at millions of ATMs worldwide, wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.

Applying for the ClearCash card is simple and quick, with no credit checks and 100% acceptance*, you’ll receive your own unique account number and sort code in the post when your card arrives. Once activated, ClearCash cardholders benefit from Direct Debit and Standing Order facilities*, up to four additional cardholders*, a credit building tool* and salary and benefits loading. Unlike many prepaid cards, all purchases are covered by a comprehensive purchase protection insurance package on both tariffs.

ClearCash cardholders also have exclusive access to a dedicated cash back site where they receive FREE cashback when shopping online from the catalogue of well-known retailers.

A clear and simple card design is backed up with a clear and simple ethos. The ClearCash Prepaid MasterCard® card is available with two flexible pricing tariffs (Pay monthly and Pay As You Go) designed to cater for all.

The card also provides a viable alternative to a basic bank account with some excellent extras in the form of Creditbuilder*, advice from experienced money advisors, backed up with free purchase protection insurance and cashback offers from 1000's of online retailers.
The ClearCash card is only available in GBP which means usage abroad will incur an FX fee hence, not really ideal for usage abroad but the cashback discounts and free purchase protection insurance mean that the ClearCash card provides a good overall product proposition.

Application Process  4.5 Stars

There are no credit checks, you only need to be over 18 and reside in the UK to apply for the ClearCash prepaid Mastercard card. You can apply online using the ClearCash website or by speaking to a ClearCash representative on the telephone. Additional cardholders can be added to the primary card, and these cardholders can be from age 13 and above.

  • Apply online: Simply select which tariff best suits your needs, Pay As You Go for occasional use or Pay Monthly for routine / frequent use, and fill in the online application form on the secure ClearCash website. The application is straightforward and will take no more than a few minutes. You will need a form of ID to complete the application, either your passport or UK driving licence. Once completed you can either pay online or take a voucher letter to your local Post Office.
  • Apply by Phone: Telephone the ClearCash team and they will take you through the application process.

Once you have applied, your ClearCash prepaid Mastercard will be sent to you in 3-5 days.

You can service your account on the ClearCash website. Each client has their own online money management facility where they can check balances, set up Standing Orders and Direct Debits and add additional cardholders as well as apply for CreditbuilderTM.

Using Abroad  2 Stars

The ClearCash prepaid Mastercard card can be used abroad at millions of retailers and ATMs, wherever you see the Mastercard Acceptance Mark. A transaction abroad will cost you 2.99% of the transaction value and an ATM withdrawal abroad will cost you £1.50 in addition to the 2.99% transaction fee.

Furthermore, if you use your card in a non-GBP region, you will incur a 2.99% foreign exchange (FX) fee. So use your card abroad wisely.

ClearCash provide excellent customer service that is handled by Cashplus. You can also post a question on the FAQ section of their website and one of the ClearCash team will respond.

Customer Service is open Monday to Friday 8am to 6.00pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. There are a number of ways you can get in touch with the ClearCash Customer Services team.
